Eichmaß des Guten und Bösen (2025)
Installation with video projections, frosted glass brick, bass frequencies; audio piece with headphones
Eichmaß des Guten und Bösen examines Berlin’s Bärenzwinger as a symbol of institutional care that simultaneously protects, controls and disempowers. By juxtaposing bear keeping and psychiatry, parallels are drawn between spatial isolation, deprivation and power structures. Image and sound collages from historical reports and personal accounts alternate between external and internal perspectives. The work in the left cage is understood as an act of collective remembrance and storytelling – a resistant practice of care dedicated to the victims of ongoing psychiatric violence and eugenic ideology.
Visitors are invited to share their own experiences or thoughts (anonymously) in the green area of the outdoor enclosure.
